Why Is Everyone Staring at Me?

When I look back at past public speaking opportunities that i've had, i'm always one to go back and see what I did well and what I could have improved on.One strength that I believe I'm good at is the ability to look natural.Sometimes you see people speak in front of an audience and the way their composure is, shows how umcomfortable they are in that type of setting.I'm not saying that I never get nervous because I am a nervous mess most of the times, but I try not to have that nervous carry to the outside. Another strength that I carry is the ability to talk fluently and understandably. Most times in normal conversation I have so much going on in my head that I want ot say, that it sometimes get jumbled up and doesn't make me sound as secure. When i'm speaking in front of an audience, I usually practice what I'm going to say multiple times, and that allows me to have a better conversation with the audience.

When it comes to my weaknesses, they are usually the same ones that I've tried to work on for many years but they continually come up.One of those weaknesses is sounding monotone.Usually when I've had more time to practice I usually do a better job at improving the variety in my tone of voice.Sometimes though, the problem reoccurs. It seems with more practice that i am able to get rid of that problem, so that will be one think I'll be working on for this upcoming speech.Another weakness that I have when it comes to public speaking is, forgetting what I was going to say or not saying enough.I can be extremely confident in my speech the night before but as soon as i see everyone's eyes on me, i tend to forget certain parts of what i was going to say or skipping certain parts so that i can end my speech earlier and disappear from this extremely embarrassing moment.Nerves are always going to occur no matter what but just as with my first weakness, i believe that if i practice more than the bare minimum and really put an effort in making sure I know all of the material.I'll have a more thorough and effective speech.

Anything You Can Do I Can Do Bettter

When i was coming up with potential paradigm shift ideas, there was one specific topic that immediately came to my attention. Many people who have watched the news recently have heard about the two female Army officers who just graduated from the very prestigious Ranger school.A third female has just recently graduated as of last week. Women's roles in the military has changed.Gone are the days of lessons filled with specific beauty and gender guidelines. With the increase of threats overseas and the ever-ending presence of troops in areas such as Afghanistan, there's been a push for equal treatment towards women in the armed forces and a change in opinions of females in the military.

In my essay I will be focusing on the specific changes of women in the armed forces in different decades starting with WWII. I will be taking a look at the different physical standards that have occurred throughout the decades such as; their physical appearance while in uniform and pt standards.I'll also be taking a look at the expanding roles of the female forces from the main administrative and nursing roles in the early 1940's and 50's to the opening of combat roles in present day.

While this is a lot of information to cover, I would also like to take a look at certain counterarguments and opinions of women in the military held by the population and individuals during the differing decades.

Women have really been in the forefront of conflict in recent years and have always played influential roles in the armed forces yet, their hard work is extremely overlooked in many cases.I will be shining a light on the impact that these women have had throughout our countries history.
